With increasing pressure on universities to play an enhanced role in the process of innovation and economic development, this research investigates the concept of the entrepreneurial university [Etzkowitz H. & Leydesdorff L. 2000. The dynamics of innovation: from National Systems and "Mode 2" to a Triple Helix of university-industry-government relations. Research Policy, 29(2), 109-123] within a full service university setting. The chapter reviews the opportunities and challenges associated with the paradigm and presents a case study of a full service university at the early stages of its journey toward the entrepreneurial university paradigm. The case highlights an emerging divide across the university's academic disciplines regarding the third academic mission and explores its implications for the institution and its entrepreneurial trajectory. Ultimately, the case findings call into question Etzkowitz and Leydesdorff's assertion that the entrepreneurial university is a global phenomenon with an isomorphic development path.
