An internet program for managing irrigation Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • This paper presents an internet computer based program website http://southtexasweather.tamu.edu for farmers of the Lower Rio Grande Valley in Texas to provide them daily and hourly weather data and calculate crop evapotranspiration for sugarcane, citrus, corn, cotton and corn, onions and watermelons for full irrigation. This website also provides a water balance so farmers can schedule irrigation considering soil type, and root depth. The website also provides information about irrigation guidelines to determine the number of irrigation required for each crop based on a record of historical weather data and soil type.
