abstract
Reconsiders the Green Revolution in rice in Sri Lanka and finds that deviations or shocks in yearly average yields prior to 1966 were primarily transitory in nature. On the other hand, shocks after 1966 were primarily permanent in nature. These results as strongly suggestive of on-going technological change in rice yield since the mid-sixties. Argues that time-varying methods (in particular the adaptive regression models) have a natural application to data analysis of technology adoption. -from Authors
