abstract
We conduct a detailed study on the effect of trapping potential upon inelastic photon scattering by trapped atoms. We first demonstrate the relation of scattered spectrum to the multitime correlation function of atomic motion and then show how the side bands are produced in the spectrum. We next calculate from first principle the interference of photons emitted by two trapped atoms, and give numerical results for the visibility for a range of trap parameters.
