Exploring a national cybersecurity exercise for universities Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • A National Cybersecurity Exercise for Universities, which pits one team against several others conducting a combination of cyberreconnaissance, network and system defense, and cyberattacks, is explored. The exercise can serve to both introduce concepts and measure understanding of computer security and information assurance. All of the cybersecurity exercises give students a laboratory in which to experiment, just as in other field of science. Training is the purpose of a cybersecurity exercise and federal laws let agencies conduct vulnerability assessments for security purposes.
