Design competitions in the field of mobile robots are becoming increasingly common. A strategy for integration of robot design competitions into courses was presented in order to maximize learning experience and promote intelluctual development of students. The Introduction to Robotics and Avanced Robotics courses at the Colorado School of Mines (CSM) earned a much higher rating by the students over departmental average for courses. The five awards and seven publications garnered by CSM teams was clear proof of the effective integration of design competitions into coursework.
