abstract
The author suggests that among the voluntarily childless, the relationship between income and childlessness need not necessarily be inverse. After reviewing the studies which have examined the general relationship the author focuses upon the voluntarily childless and suggests an alternative hypothesis. The hypothesis is tested indirectly with data from the 1970 U.S. Census of Population.
