Operational planning and electronic assembly: Case of two machines, multiple products Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • This paper considers a short-term operational planning for a medium-demand, medium-variety printed circuit board (PCB) on a mixed-model, or multiple products, assembly line consisting of two identical machines with the objective of maximizing the throughput. The problem is decomposed into three sub-problems being solved hierarchically: Part selection, sequencing, and workload balancing problems. The sub-problems are modeled as mixed integer linear programming problems. Furthermore, heuristic procedures are developed for each sub problem. The heuristic are tested based on randomly generated data. INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING.
