abstract
This paper demonstrates the affect of future arrival information in real-time scheduling of batch processors to minimize multiple criteria simultaneously. Considering mean cycle time and mean tardiness together, we propose a multi-criteria control approach for batch processors with incompatible product families. At every decision epoch, future arrival forecasts in a look-ahead window are used to evaluate decision alternatives. Given the decision maker's choice of criteria weights, weighted sum of two criteria estimates are found for each decision alternative. The minimizing alternative is chosen as the winning decision. Our approach shows promising results compared to benchmark batch control policies.
