Minimizing maximum material flow congestion on conveyor networks Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • A model is developed to minimize maximum material flow congestion on a network of conveyors for handling discrete batches of items such as scanned packages. The motivation for the described model is to evenly distribute the flow of such batches by considering capacities of the conveyors and existing flow and hence reduce congestion. A method based on results from probability is used to solve the formulated problem. Bounds are estimated to show the proximity of the obtained solution to an optimal solution.
