abstract
An analysis of the effects of suction on the Grtler instability of boundary layers is presented. Suction reduces the total growth of Grtler vortices and in this sense stabilizes the flow. The levels of suction that have to be used to achieve a significant stabilization are substantially higher than the level of suction sufficient to eliminate the Tollmien-Schlichting waves. 1983 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Inc., All rights reserved.
