Increased emphasis on secondary instability analysis along with the experimental observations of subharmonic instabilities have changed the picture of the transition. A review is presented of these recent efforts with emphasis on Tollmien-Schlichting waves, secondary instabilities and transition, three dimensional boundary layers and transition prediction and control.
