THIN FILAMENT INTERFEROMETRIC MICROPHONE Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • A thin filament which follows the motion of a gas is used to measure small pressure fluctuations for photoacoustic spectroscopy. Optical heterodyne detection of laser radiation scattered from the filament provides a sensitive measurement of its displacement. This device may be particularly useful for low-pressure spectroscopy or under experimental conditions where the use of a standard microphone is inconvenient.
