The development and application of optical diagnostics to the radiatively driven wind tunnel test program is presented, with particular emphasis on the measurement of flow properties in the 10 kW laser and 30 kW electron beam energy addition experiments. Diagnostic measurements in preparation for the test are presented, including the development of a new temperature measurement technique based on laser induced grating spectroscopy.
