abstract
1990 ACM. The paper describes a technology project to assist with the Decision Support Process (DSP), and the applicability of a Blackboard architecture to provide such assistance. The primary thrust of the paper is on the design and development concerns of a system called XDSP (expert assistance to the Decision Support Process). The development of this system is an extension to the research on Intelligent Decision Support Systems. A conceptual framework for DSP is provided as the basis for proposing the system, Given the diverse nature of the managerial domain and the varied approaches of the experts solving the problem, the XDSP system is tailored to accommodate input from several experts, whose problem solving knowledge will be codified in the form of knowledge sources. These virtual experts then communicate with each other via the medium of a global data structure, the blackboard.
