Comparative tissue distribution and substrate specificity of electrophoretical distinct peptidases in the rabbit, the rat and the gerbil. Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • 1. 1. Five distinct peptidases were identified in tissues of rabbit and gerbil and seven peptidases were identified in rat tissues. 2. 2. In the rabbit and gerbil, enzymes analogues to human peptidase B were observed although a corresponding enzyme was not clearly identified in the rat. 3. 3. An enzyme analogous to human peptidase A was found in all three mammalian species. 4. 4. Unique peptidases with narrow limits of tissue expression and substrate affinity for gly-leu were identified in the rat and gerbil. 5. 5. Although a leucyl--naphthylamidase was found in each species, definitive identification of this enzyme as a specific dipeptidase could not be made. 1973.
