abstract
Two large-scale projects are reviewed in which saline wastewater was disposed of by irrigating crops and forage. One project is located in West Texas and disposes municipal effluent. The other projected receives runoff collected at a 45,000 head cattle feedlot located on the Texas Southern High Plains. Information is provided on the quality of the wastewater and changes in soil salinity after several years of irrigation. Lack of adequate leaching fraction resulted in a serious increase in soil salinity in both projects.
