abstract
A portable microdosimetry system to measure dose and evaluate dose equivalent has been developed for potential use as a space shuttle experiment. This system incorporates most of the features which would be desirable in an instrument intended for radiation monitoring of complex, variable radiation fields. It is simple to operate, self-calibrating, and accurate. It records spectral data for future comparisons, and is usable for 1 to 2 years before the counting gas must be replaced. The response of this system in comparison with dose and dose equivalent derived from measured neutron fluence and calculated quality factors are discussed.
