Mobil tackles floating LNG challenges Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • Mobile Technology has developed a large scale floating LNG concept. It is based on a square concrete hull, and is designed to produce 6 million tonnes of LNG per annum and up to 55 000b/d of condensate. The stability of the barge has been confirmed in model tests. These tests and the motion characteristics of the barge are discussed. Design of the spread mooring system which allows direct tie-in of risers is described. Flowline and riser arrangements relative to production and subsea wells are considered. The cryogenic offloading system which is based on FMC's boom to tanker system is described.
