abstract
A beam theory based on Kozik's linearly exact displacement formulation to evaluate the interlaminar transverse shear and normal stresses in heterogeneous laminated beams is presented. The transverse effects are introduced into the displacement equations solely from kinematical considerations. Through strain-displacement, stress-strain and continuity requirements, the differential equations of equilibrium are formulated. To assess the contributions and limitations of the presented theory, a sample beam problem is considered for which an analytical solution is available.
