abstract
The paper develops a taxonomy of types of joint ventures which have emerged in the United States between public and commercial leisure service suppliers. The taxonomy classifies all such ventures into three major categories: situations where the public sector uses existing facilities owned exclusively by the commercial sector; ventures in which the public sector engages in pump priming to facilitate new commercial projects; and ventures in which a public agency plays the dominant role in developing new facilities. Within each major category, sub-categories are defined. The central principles of each type of joint venture are discussed. Presses de l Universit du Qubec.
