Generation of narrow linewidth pulses via amplification in a chain of fiber/bulk amplifiers

abstract

• An alternative way to produce high power, narrow linewidth, variable length pulses is presented. Since there is no need for any feedback or control electronics and because of use of fiber technology, the approach has the advantage of being compact and very rugged. It is highly suitable for applications in harsh environments. Also, extension of this method to other wavelengths is possible depending on the availability of a high gain material for the rod.
