abstract

  • The outer and inner valence photoionization of ethane was analyzed using the polyatomic Schwinger variational method with pad corrections. Total cross section, parital cross sections, and asymmetry-parameter profiles were considered for the outer- and inner-valence ionization channels. The total cross section was found in good agreement with the available electron-impact and photoabsorption measurement. Characterization of shape resonances of definite valence character, which appeared in the (1eg) -1, (3a1g)-1, and (2a1g) -1 ionization channels was also carried out. The MBS-SCF calculations predict the symmetries of all the resonant states.
