  • A study was conducted on the C 1s photoionization of CH4, CF4, and CCl4 using the polyatomic Schwinger variational method with Pade corrections. The computational model was a one-electron model so that can study the occurrence and nature of one-electron resonances, i.e., shape resonances. In all three systems considered there were features in the experimental cross sections which were not found in the one-electron calculations reported. Thus, these features were probably due to shake-up processes in these systems.
