Common themes and significant differences are addressed, providing an overview of the current and up-to-date state of the art of facility management research. Each industry and every building type are unique in terms of the challenges that each present to the facility management professional; responsibilities and charges also depend on factors other than the sector in which the facility operates, such as building size, location, services provided, internal policies, and external forces.
