In-situ Raman measurements of gold-doped ceria catalysts under carbon monoxide and water-gas-shift reaction conditions Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • Au-CeO 2 catalysts under either CO (1%CO/He) or water gas shift, WGS, (1%CO+3%H 2 O/He) conditions were studied. The main Raman peaks found are at 460, 590, and 825/cm. As the temperature was increased, the amount of surface peroxide species dropped quickly. Upon cooling down, the surface peroxide peak was not recovered. The in-situ Raman test under WGS condition diaplayed a different feature for the surface peroxide peak of this sample. As the temperature was increased, the amount of surface peroxide species dropped gradually from 100C, and was depleted completely at 175C. During cooling down in the reaction mixture, the peroxide peak can be totally recovered, due to the water effect. The results showed that the surface oxygen species plays a crucial role for the WGS reaction on gold doped ceria catalysts.
