abstract
A brief history of the extended transport correction for Legendre differential scattering cross-section expansions is presented in conjunction with calculations intended to investigate the validity of such expansions for the extremely forward-peaked scattering characteristic of that experienced by electrons. It is concluded from the results that approximate P//1//1 cross sections obtained with the extended transport correction can yield excellent scalar flux solutions for electrons with energies between 10 keV and 1 MeV, even though P//1//1 expansions are totally inadequate for representing the exact cross sections.
