abstract

  • A modififed CANDE program was used to analyze a full factorial set of design parameters for buried, large diameter high density polyethylene profile wall pipe. A new pipe subroutine was used in conjunction with a hyperbolic stress strain curve soil type, depth of water table and depth of cover. Design time, pipe stiffness, and backfill type were also analysed. Regression analysis was used to find the best fit equations for pipe wall strain and vertical deflection. In situ soil type and backfill density were determined to be the most important design parameters. Strain was found to be the controlling distress type. (A)
