abstract
Researchers from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign developed a new probe and software system that measures a hardened concrete's internal humidity decreases with time. Called "Control of Cracking in Concrete Structures", the scheme identifies relative humidity as a factor affecting drying shrinkage. The scheme may answer how contractors can provide enough humidity during the initial phase of concrete set to reduce the likelihood of plastic shrinkage.
