abstract
For a general knowledge on the Standard Cone Penetrometer test and its uses the reader is referred to the work of Briaud and Miran (1991). For this study (Khalaf and Briaud, 1992) a smaller cone, called the minicone penetrometer, has been used. This equipment was provided by Fugro-McClelland; the cooperation of Mr. Ron Boggess of Fugro-McCelland is much appreciated. The minicone was driven then pushed in a chamber filled with dry sand and the data was recorded on a data acquisition system. the idea was to alternate driving and pushing as penetration took place to get data pertaining to the wave equation analysis.
