abstract
There is a significant amount of composite frame building construction using column composed of either reinforced concrete (RC) or embedded steel shapes in reinforced concrete (SRC) and steel girders to resist gravity loads and lateral forces from wind loads. The computer program IDARC was designed primarily to model the non-linear response behavior of structural members with various control parameters simulating strength and stiffness deterioration and slip behavior. IDARC is modified to effectively account for joint deformations and this program can be used as a guideline to ensure desirable mechanisms and prevent joint failures in such construction.
