abstract
An active power filter to cancel harmonic currents is proposed. The proposed filter is shown to cancel a specific current harmonic as well as several lower-order current harmonics generated by nonlinear loads. The proposed filter is highly efficient and low in cost. The system can therefore be employed to isolate and neutralize harmonics generated by a group of nonlinear loads in a low-voltage electric power system. Experimental results on a prototype system validate the proposed approach
