Conceptual design of floating wind turbines with large-amplitude motion Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • Reducing the hull size in the design of spar-type floating offshore wind turbines is investigated through a series of worked examples. Savings in hull weight are offset by increased angular hull motions. A new methodology based on Euler angles is introduced to accurately simulate these motions, including associated gyroscopic effects.
