abstract
Two controllers are designed for the Hubble Space Telescope (HST); one using the Block Output Covariance Constraint (BOCC) control design technique, and the other using covariance control theory. The high order true models provided by NASA are generated from the TREETOPS program. Since the solar array angle changes during the mission to obtain maximal solar energy for the HST, the TREETOPS model is a function of the solar array angle. Linear TREETOPS models with solar angles 0, 45, and 105 are used for control design. Modal Cost Analysis is used for model reduction.
