abstract
The paper describes empirical equations and compares their results with actual measurements. The results show that the empirical equations for the areal extent and plume dimensions are good estimators and that the equation for evaluating the number of above ambient salinity contours is an excellent estimator. Example results for the estimation of the percent exposure time demonstrate the capability for evaluating exposure to above ambient bottom salinity conditions when the actual measurements are not available.
