abstract
Based on an understanding of nonlinear wave interaction in dual component wave, a new numerical scheme allowing for hybrid wave-mode modeling has been developed. in the hybrid wave-mode modeling a conventional wave-mode function is used to describe high-frequency component waves, and a modulated wave-mode function to describe high-frequency component waves, and a modulated wave-mode function to describe high-frequency component waves. As a result rapid convergence is obtained for the nonlinear decomposition and free wave distinguishable from bound waves. Using this numerical scheme, prediction of wave kinematics and wave propagation based on a time record of two-dimensional wave elevation are computed and display satisfactory comparison with related laboratory measurements.
