abstract
A finite analytic (FA) numerical solution for unsteady two dimensional Navier-Stokes equation is derived. The FA method utilizes the analytic solution in a small local element to formulate the algebraic representation of partial differential equation. In the present investigation, the combination of linear and exponential functions which satisfy the governing equation is adopted as the boundary function, thereby improving the accuracy of the finite analytic solution. Flow of vortex shedding behind a rectangular block is solved by the FA method. The FA solution for flow over a rectangular block (H multiplied by H/4) predicts the shedding frequency for Reynolds number of 100 and 500.
