abstract
Isoelectric focusing of soluble lens proteins from 29 strains of mice revealed three electrophoretic phenotypes. Genetic experiments and molecular sieving studies demonstrated that the variation was encoded by three alleles at a locus, designated Len-1, and that the affected protein was a -crystallin. Len-1 was determined to be located on mouse chromosome 1. 1982.
