In 1999, Jean Boddewyn, prompted by the relaunch of the Journal of International Management, published a provocative article, "The Domain of International Management," in which he critiqued current definitions of international management. More recently, the editors of the Journal of International Business Studies have been engaged in clarifying the domain of international business (Eden 2008), building on Boddewyn's (1997) work. With the announcement of a new journal,Global Strategy Journal, from the Strategic Management Society, the question arises: How do these three fields of inquiry differ? Where do they overlap? How does Boddewyn's work on defining international management and international business help us understand the distinctions? In this article, we build on Boddewyn's earlier research to explore the three fields of inquiry, develop new domain statements, and link them to one another. 2011 M.E. Sharpe, Inc.
