PERIODIC POTENTIAL-ENERGY FUNCTIONS WITH SINE AND COSINE TERMS Academic Article

abstract

• The matrix elements required for calculating the energy levels for a periodic potential function containing both sine and cosine terms are presented. Such potential functions are applicable for internal rotation when the top and/or the frame of the molecule belongs to the C1 symmetry point group. The energy levels and wavefunctions are described for two characteristic potential functions-one with three different maxima and three different minima, the other with two different maxima and two different minima. 1977.
