abstract
A scheme for infrared generation between subbands in quantum wells and quantum dots lasers without population inversion was presented. The scheme was based on the resonant nonlinear mixing of the optical laser fields on the two interband transitions that served as the coherent drive for the infrared field and were generated in the same active region. The method was found to be promising for long wavelength operation, due to the parametric nature of infrared generation.
