Nanoengineered microcapsules for the fluorescent sensing of oxygen -: 2nd Joint Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society and the Biomedical Engineering Society Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • Self-assembled microcapsules allow for the encapsulation of fluorescent dyes capable of the detection of many biochemical. The stability and detection range of these sensors might make them optimal for use in microgravitational environments. A microencapsulated fluorescent oxygen sensor was developed for the detection of O2 in fluidic and cultured systems. This sensor provides real-time response for differing O2 concentration in a useable range.
