abstract

  • The dissolution of a solid on continuous injection of acid particles at a single point and in the presence of external field causing the particles to undergo biased diffusion was studied. Concentration profile of the acid and the growth kinetics of the dissolved region were discussed. The model was extended to study the process for variable acid strength. The acid concentration within the dissolved region was found to follow the steady state profile of biased diffusion presenting a solution of Laplace equation. The shape of the dissolved region observed was strongly anisotropic with its length growing with time.
