abstract
The final goal is to design and implement a computer based system capable of distinguishing between a number of different malignant and benign breast tumors. This paper will describe the first phase of this approach which includes the incorporation of three features to allow computer differentiation between stellate carcinomas and fibroadenomas. A user friendly system was designed and developed which used circularity, surface roughness, and boundary roughness as the features to identify those characteristics in the digital image which indicate malignancy.
