abstract
Development of UWB CMOS transmitters using carrier and impulse techniques is presented. The carrier transmitter designed using a 0.18-m CMOS process adopts a double-stage switching to enhance RF-power efficiency and reduce dc-power consumption and circuit complexity. Measurement results show that the generated UWB signal has variable 10-dB signal bandwidths from 0.5 to 4 GHz and tunable central frequency covering the entire UWB frequency range of 3.1 to 10.6 GHz. The impulse transmitter designed using a 0.25-m CMOS process can generate and transmit both monocycle pulses from 140 to 350 ps and impulses from 100 to 300 ps. 2013 IEEE.
