abstract
We propose a novel block-based image transmission system, which exploits the a prior information existing in the DCT domain of images and combines both linear and non-linear coding schemes accommodated to a block-based DCT domain compressed sampling method. An image is firstly divided into blocks and each block is separately sampled in DCT domain. Different coding schemes are used to transmit the samples based on their properties. With block-based strategy, each image block can be processed and transmitted separately, which reduces a lot of latency. Besides, an efficient system optimization algorithm is proposed by jointly optimizing the power allocation scheme and the transmission parameters to search for the maximum peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) of the reconstructed image. Simulation results show that the proposed system provides a good performance with less latency. 2012 IEEE.
