abstract
A Monte Carlo simulation program to perform reliability analysis of the space station hybrid power configuration is described. The model allows photovoltaic and solar dynamic power sources to be mixed in varying proportions. This model considers the dependence of reliability and storage characteristics during the sun and eclipse periods. It also considers certain types of common mode failures. This proposed program can model the charging and discharging of energy storage devices in a more realistic manner than that of C. Singh et al. (1987). The results shown do not indicate any significant effect on computed reliability indices by this more refined modeling of charge/discharge of energy storage.
