Reducing harmonic distortion components of a second-order sigma-delta modulator by using a compensated OTA Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • The performances of second-order sigma-delta modulators implemented with typical folded-cascode operational transconductance amplifiers (OTA) and compensated OTAs are compared. The power consumption and silicon area are the same for both structures and the noise is almost at the same level. It is shown by simulations that the harmonic distortion components are reduced, around -7 dB, when the compensated OTA is employed.
