This paper describes several visualization techniques that are useful in the analysis of power flow and optimal power flow (OPF) results. The increased size of power system models makes the use of such techniques almost indispensable. The paper describes the application of dynamically sized pie charts and animated flow arrows for showing transmission line flows, the use of contouring to display bus based quantities such as voltages and locational marginal prices (LMPs). The application of interactive three dimension (3D) techniques to power system visualization is also considered.
