Hybrid finite element-multifilament current method for electromagnetic scattering Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • A simple and efficient approach which combines the finite element method (FEM) and multifilament current method (MFCM) is presented for the analysis of electromagnetic scattering from inhomogeneous material cylinders. In this approach, the inhomogeneous interior region is modeled by the FEM based on the (Ez, Hz)-formulation and the unbounded homogeneous exterior region by the MFCM. The coupling of the interior and exterior problems is accomplished by enforcing the continuity of the tangential field components across the boundary of the cylinder. Numerical results for the echo widths of several homogeneous and inhomogeneous material cylinders are presented to illustrate the accuracy of this approach.
